Pamela Tucker
Subject matter for my paintings comes from personal photographs as well as working from live models and sketching plein air. What catches my eye could be the way light falls on an arm, someone’s body language, or the energy of a crowded street. Simply put, I use remarkable visual moments as my inspiration and then abstract them.
My work contains an interplay between figure and ground, objects and space as well as geometric simplification, clear demarcations of tonal shifts and color intensity. I also enjoy exploring the textural and optical potential of paint.
My goal in combining recognizable and abstract imagery is to heighten the everyday experience.
