Marilyn Honigman
Memory and Reflection
December 1, 2026-January 2, 2027
Opening Reception: December 3 5-8 pm

Marilyn Honigman’s art reflects on what the past can reveal about the present. Her personal and family history lead her to ask what is the human cost of destruction. In Honigman’s paintings she seeks neither to accuse nor condemn, but to reflect on the past and the time we live in.
Honigman’s intent is that her paintings not only shed light on a particular time and place but that they stand on their own as a part of the continuum that is the history of human experience.
Her parents were Holocaust survivors. Photographs given to her father when he was liberated drew her to the holocaust as a subject for her art work.In painting and drawing she focuses on composition and tonal color to create her image.
Marilyn Honigman grew up in Brooklyn New York. She studied at Queens College and the New York Studio School. She received her M.F.A. In painting from Queens College.
