Gratitude for the Beauty of the Earth
Jeanie Wing is exhibiting paintings that show her deep appreciation for nature. Her paintings are of landscapes, flowers, plants, and other naturalistic settings. Having grown up in the woods in New Jersey in the 1940’s, she feels at peace surrounded by trees and fresh air. She hopes to share her love of nature through her paintings. Her works are acrylic on canvas and vary in size from small, sweet gems to bouquet-sized and larger.
Jeanie studied painting at Tyler School of Fine Arts of Temple U. in Philadelphia with a B.F.A. in Painting and a B.S. in Art Education. She also studied at the Art Students’ League, The School of Visual Arts, The Fashion Institute of Art (NYC), The New School, the University of Iowa, N.Y.U., and the Brooklyn Museum. She has works in numerous private collections and has exhibited her work in many galleries including the Brooklyn Museum Community Gallery, L.I.U. (one-person show), Pace College, Manhattanville College, Fairleigh Dickenson University, Wetherholt Gallery (DC), Federal Plaza NYC, Dept. of Environmental Protection (Trenton NJ); Women in the Arts traveling show etc., and the former Gallery 91 (Brooklyn Heights) where she was a founding member of the co-op in 1971.
Jeanie volunteered as coordinator of art exhibitions for the New York City Artist Teachers Association (NYCATA) for many years while teaching in New York City. The NYCATA group exhibitions included The Cork Gallery at Lincoln Center Avery Fisher Hall, Broome St. Gallery, Chuck Levitan Gallery, Pleiades & Friends, Blue Mountain Gallery, etc. The NYCATA exhibitions included teacher-student displays at LaGuardia H.S. annual teacher conference. Notably, Jeanie shared her talent and love of art with countless students as an art teacher with NYC Public Schools for several decades before retirement.
