The Change of Course series by Anne Diggory includes artworks that are multi-layered offshoots from several stages of the working process that produced one painting, “From the Center.” The early gestural stage was digitally reproduced full size on canvas and completed in the same energetic manner with acrylic paint in “Swirl.” In “Labyrinths” she printed a combination of photographs of the motif and of early painted stages and then she continued painting. To create “Overflow” she digitally reproduced a late stage of “From the Center” and used a different palette to paint the swollen stream. The series based on the dramatically turning stream includes twelve artworks that focus on subtle and dramatic shifts of both visual language and space. Each piece intertwines clarity and mystery, physicality and evocation of energy.

Diggory paints on location and in her studio in Saratoga Springs, NY. Diggory's work has been featured in Adirondack Life, American Artist and in the New York Times series on revisiting sites of the Hudson River School. She was recently featured on a pubic television special (Albany, WMHT) about painting the Adirondacks. Her Blue Mountain exhibition opens October 28th, 2008.
